We did, and wondered
what was missing from his diet. So we
researched the leading scientific literature
on the subject of dog nutrition, including
the National Research Council’s recently
published “Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and
Cats,” which updates recommendations last
made in 1985. Although copyrighted 2003, the
study was only published in its final form
in 2006. The National Research Council’s

“The Complete Dog Book” of the American
Kennel Club, comparing its most recent
edition with earlier editions. We then
